The Thermal Spring Water

The thermal spring water of Abano and Montegrotto flows from the bowels of the earth and owes all of its beneficial properties to the underground route it runs through. A nearly 30-year old route which from the Lessinian Mountains, in the nearby foothills of the Alps, through kilometres of calcareous rocks enriches it with numerous elements until it comes to the surface at a temperature of nearly 87° C.

The precious chemical composition of this water is made up of sodium chloride, iodine and bromine, and is widely known for its anti-inflammatory action. Indeed, this precious resource is used in balneotherapy to treat numerous pathologies such as chronic rhinitis, laryngitis, chronic sinusitis, tracheitis, tracheobronchitis, allergic ailments of the respiratory apparatus and chronic otitis.

In addition, the thermal spring water is fundamental to the growth of the muds that are used to treat numerous other pathologies.
Our thermal muds mature for at least 2-6 months in tubs with a continuous replacement of thermal water. They are characteristic for their high concentration of cyanobacteria, some of which are found only in these muds. These bacteria are very important because they produce substances with anti-inflammatory properties similar to cortisone, without detrimental side effects.

Other glycoproteins with anti-inflammatory effects are produced by the diatomic algae found in high concentrations at the bottom of the thermal mud maturation tubs.
